Tips for Selling Watches

Sell Watches

Sell Watches Boca Raton

Like our other articles we have recently published, this one touches on how to sell watches in Boca Raton and other metropolitan areas. These days with the Internet it’s super easy to find what your luxury timepiece is selling for. However, what people are asking isn’t necessarily what they are getting. Plenty of watches are being listed online for 20k and selling for 15k which is a big difference. Rolex watches are the easiest to price and good dealers generally work on short margins in regards to Rolex. Why? Because they are super easy to sell. Off brand watches like some IWC watches, Ulysee Nardin Watches and many others can be more difficult to sell. Easiest to see include Patek Philippe, Rolex and Cartier. If your not in a situation where you need money going into a second hand shop and trading would be your best bet. If you need the money find a shop that specializes in second hand watches and pays on the spot.

Tubular Tuesdays: Timepieces in the Shop

Welcome back from the long weekend readers! Today’s post has been taken over by yellow gold fever with a few of the current timepieces in the shop. Yellow gold is making a comeback with its arm tones and luxe look, and these 5 watches are our top tick-picks for your wrists.

Patek Philippe 3671 18K Yellow Gold Square Watch

In 1845 Antoni Patek joined with the French watchmaker Adrien Philippe and Patek Philippe & Co was founded in 1851.Credited with inventing the watch as we know it, this brand invented the perpetual calendar, split-seconds hand, chronograph, and minute repeater in watches. This 18kt rare gold stunner makes an interesting and classic addition to a watch collection.

Cartier Tank Francaise 18kt Men’s Full Size Watch

In 1917, Cartier debuted its Tank watch, inspired by the Renault tanks that Cartier observed during World War I. The Tank Francaise’ s smooth, rounded edges and clean lines set a standard for elegance, while the flawless integration of the bracelet into the watch’s case itself create a unified and uninterrupted tableau of sophistication. The Cartier Tank Francaise is an icon, and a necessity for any complete watch wardrobe.

Rolex Daytona 16528 18kt Mens Watch

This chronograph is named for the famous Rolex 24 at Daytona, and is prized for its accuracy. The Zenith movement featured in the seconds series is considered the best and most accurate of the Chronograph series to date. This increasingly rare yellow gold Daytona is masculine, sporty, precise and above all – elite.

Rolex Day-Date 18038 Presidential White Diamond Dial

Given to President Eisenhower by Rolex, the Day Date model (named so for its day and date display windows at 12 and 3, respectively) earned its nickname the “President.” To this day, several subsequent Commanders-in-Chief have also worn this Presidential model. This specific timepiece stands out with a beautiful white diamond and Roman numeral dial.

Rolex Presidential 179158 18kt

Last, but certainly not least, the Pièce de résistance of Tubular Tuesday is this 2001 Oyster Perpetual Datejust with Tahitian Mother of Pearl and diamond dial and a diamond bezel with diamond accents on the case. This elegant, stunning watch is sure to stand out.

Spoltlight On: Igor Polotsky, Raymond Lee Jeweler’s Master Watchmaker

This month’s Boca Magazine features Raymond lee Jewelers; own master watchmaker Igor Polotsky in its Slice of Life segment.

Igor, who is certified by the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute as a 21st century master of his craft, has been a part of the Raymond Lee Jewelers family for the past 2 years of his three decade career.

Igor is an indispensable asset to Raymond Lee Jewelers, as he is one of the 9 U.S. watchmakers authorized by Cartier to repair its watches; he also is adept at servicing the other luxury watch brands of Raymond Lee Jewelers, like Rolex, Patek Phillipe, and  Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Boca Magazine gets the inside scoop from the master himself on what inspired his career path (it has to do with some surprisingly heavy salt), why he left his life in native Russia behind, and the laugh-out-loud reason that Igor’s talents proved too much to handle for his employer at Tiffany & Co.’s 5th avenue showroom.

Tubular Tuesdays: In The Shop

A Picture Perfect Peek at Three Tremendous Timepieces of the Raymond Lee Jewelers Inventory… Today.

The Rolex Submariner 16610

The Rolex Submariner 16610 is the classic diving watch.  It’s 904L stainless steel case is able to withstand depths up to 300 meters (1,000 feet).  With a 40mm case it is on the larger size for gents watches.  As a standard, men’s watches are usually 36-40 mm.  The Submariner remains one of Rolex’s most popular watches. Not only is this gorgeous timepiece classic, it’s also on-trend; GQ’s September cover features Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez wearing this bright, modern timepiece.

The Rolex Datejust Masterpiece 81339

This 18K white gold stunner features a Tahitian Mother of Pearl dial that lends an air of sophistication and uniqueness. Add to this the double row of diamonds encircling the face of the watch, the scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and the diamond dial, and this watch becomes a true collectors piece.

The Rolex Daytona 116589

Introduced in 1963, the Daytona collection was designed to fit the needs of racecar drivers. Whether you’re looking to perfectly measure your lap time, or you’re simply a fan of beautiful timepieces, this particular Daytona is in a league of its own. Cased in white gold, the dial is mother of pearl with diamonds, surrounded by a bezel of diamonds, and capped off with a supple black leather band.

Readers, which of these pre-owned luxury watches would you most like to own?

Jewelry Appraisal- Appraise! Appraise, and Re-Appraise!

Jewelry Appraisal – Appraise! Appraise! and Re-Appraise!

Have your jewelry appraised! Theft is on the rise and if your jewelry hasn’t been recently appraised, it needs to be! Diamonds, gold and platinum have made huge gains over the last couple of years and if you haven’t had your jewelry updated with your insurance, you could be potentially loosing more than  your jewelry if stolen!

jewelry appraisal

Have You Appraised Your Jewelry Lately?

Diamonds have increased in value almost 50% while platinum and silver have seen historical jumps in value as well.  Once you have had your appraisal, you need to call your insurance agent right way to update and validate the new value of your precious jewelry.  For example, if you paid $5,000 for a diamond necklace more than 5 years ago, it could cost you $10-$15,000 today if you had to replace it!  Of course non of us want to think about our homes being broken into, but it is a common occurrence and we can never be too careful.

Where can you find a reputable appraiser that you can trust?  One suggestion is to go through either THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JEWELRY APPRAISERS or THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF APPRAISERS. These professionals are considered ethical and are required to be continuously educated.  Or you can go to your Boca Raton, FL own Raymond Lee Jewelers to meet with their own in-house expert and can help guide you to ensure protection and appraisal accuracy.

Also, please remember to contact your insurance agent to be aware of your insurance policies and making updates to policy to be ensure you are most protected.

The Watches of “Two And A Half Men”

Can Two and Half Men go on without Charlie Sheen?

Is Ashton Kutcher dynamic and crazy enough to replace Charlie Sheen? Does he just have too much style?

How are the writers of Two and Half Men kill off Sheen? Will the show still be entertaining?

Patek Philippe & Co. watch

Image via Wikipedia, Gorgeous Watches

I’ve been following Ashton’s passion for fine time pieces and now, if he hits my favorite show, he’ll have my whole heart! I think many of us felt like we were watching the real Sheen, and felt more like his reality show vs a “character” he was “acting” to be! It will be interesting to see what Ashton does for the show.

patek philippe, luxury watches

The Two Men producers have refused to comment on the many rumors, but seems Ashton will have a permanent spot in the new era.  After eight years, could a major change be a breath of fresh air, or the kiss of death?

Guess we will all find out on September 19th on CB S.

charlie sheen, patek philippe
What would be the perfect revenge for Lorre?  Being to actually daydream of the funniest, most “Un-Charlie Sheen” way to die? Getting sober? Haha, being killed by healthy living! Or maybe because he jumped a cliff chasing after his beloved watch? You know, the one he destroyed a hotel room in NY?  In his defense, the Patek Philippe is worth $165K!  Don’t think the Swiss family wants their watch to be known for the owner strangling an “escort” and accusing her of stealing it! Oh well, the price of fame and exclusivity.

Masculine Monday: NY Antique Jewelry and Watch Show (and Tell)

Masculine Monday: Give Your Rolex Watch Away

Good Morning Everybody!  Hope that you’ve all rested up over the weekend, and that a case of the ‘Monday’s’ is not setting the mood for your day.  With Monday being reserved for our Masculine Monday Entries, today’s Masculine portion will come to you in a varied delivered way…

Today, Gents, our advice for some serious Girlfriend/Wife/Best Friend bonus points… give the lady your wristwatch.

Preferably, give her your Gents Rolex wristwatch!

Rolex GMT

We touched on this trend just as it was sparked a few months ago, where Jennifer Aniston and her men’s Rolex wristwatch was featured in our entry, ‘Breaking the Mold‘.  As time has passed, more and more gals are wanting a gents wristwatch, as opposed to a ladies model.

Along with the other most prevalent trends being shown by consumers at the New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, which we’ll touch on later, many women are looking for Gents Rolex models for themselves. It has become one of the strongest trends withing the watch industry.

“Many women are looking for gents Rolex models for themselves. That is the new trend.”

This comes straight from the source, the Raymond Lee Jewelers VP, who is currently exhibiting a carefully chosen selection of Raymond Lee Jewelers Antique Jewelry and Luxury Watches at the famous US Antique Show.

Being a true modern gentlemen with style and substance does require the ability to choose the perfect gift for the one you love. When the next Birthday or Anniversary rolls around, consider picking up your gal a Gents Rolex to light up her face with glee.

Better yet, find yourself a new timepiece to liven up the life on your wrist, and give her your current gents wristwatch as a gift. This will be both sweet and sentimental, and you’ll be thanking me in no time.

Reporter Paul Brinkmann has been continuously publishing updates, following today’s

Scott Rothstein auction action. Once again, South Florida Business Report features Raymond Lee Jewelers.

Right on, Mr. Brinkmann!

Lee Josephson of Raymond Lee Jewelers in Boca Raton bids on a Patek Philippe yellow gold watch, but dropped out after a while.   “Lee Josephson of Raymond Lee Jewelers in Boca Raton bids on a Patek Philippe yellow gold watch, but dropped out after a while.”

Ultimately, the auction was a great experience and lots of excitement surrounding the event certainly stirred things up as lines began to form of South Florida jewelry professionals, collectors and victims of Scott Rothstein’s massive ponzi scheme looking for vengeance, in any form.

A variety of interpretations surrounding the auction have published since this morning. Certain sources are elaborating on the fact that so many pieces were paid above retail value for. Other views within the local press maintained a collectors perspective, pointing out that some items can become collectibles because of the stories tied to them… This, I tend to agree with, even if the story is not all that pretty.

Rothstein Auction Acquired Piaget Watch

Although Josephson won less bids than he hoped, he says there’s a serious lesson here.

“It shows how ridiculous someone is when money is no object. I’m blown away by how many watches Rothstein owned, he has more than most stores have in stock. I hope the people who got burned are reimbursed,” says Josephson

And…

Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein may be serving time, but his white gold Piaget watch sold for $77,500 on Wednesday.

Think that’s a lot? Around 1 p.m., a new auction high was set on a limited edition Concord watch for $100,000. There was also a white gold Franck Muller watch that fetched $47,500 and a Patek Phillippe watch that went for $61,000.
