Selling jewelry in Boca Raton

Raymond Lee Jewelers Showroom

How and where to sell jewelry, watches and diamonds is a topic of discussion at some point in every ones lives. There are so many outlets to sell jewelry in Boca Raton and other areas all over the world.  Before making any rash decisions consider your options. The best possible option is to sell the item privately, to someone you know. That way you can get very fair market value for your jewelry. If this does not seem like a good option for you, you can always consider posting to the internet on multiple platforms. The best being Ebay. If you decide to try to sell your jewelry, watches or diamonds on Ebay make sure you have paperwork to go with it such as an appraisal. This will give credibility to the piece of jewelry you are trying to sell. Bare in mind that on Ebay there are many scams and items need to be refundable, so do your homework before listing an item on Ebay for sale. We do not recommend listing to Craigslist. The reason we do not recommend Craigslist is because it lets potential buyers know you have something valuable to sell and deals have to be done in person. This leaves you open to a potential robbery. The third and probably best choice is to visit your local jeweler. Get a few opinions and depending on the type of item you have for sale you can gauge its value by how much they are selling for online. Make sure you are paid on the spot and verify the funds are available in the jewelers account.

Tips for Selling Watches

Sell Watches

Sell Watches Boca Raton

Like our other articles we have recently published, this one touches on how to sell watches in Boca Raton and other metropolitan areas. These days with the Internet it’s super easy to find what your luxury timepiece is selling for. However, what people are asking isn’t necessarily what they are getting. Plenty of watches are being listed online for 20k and selling for 15k which is a big difference. Rolex watches are the easiest to price and good dealers generally work on short margins in regards to Rolex. Why? Because they are super easy to sell. Off brand watches like some IWC watches, Ulysee Nardin Watches and many others can be more difficult to sell. Easiest to see include Patek Philippe, Rolex and Cartier. If your not in a situation where you need money going into a second hand shop and trading would be your best bet. If you need the money find a shop that specializes in second hand watches and pays on the spot.

Where To Sell Jewelry

selling diamonds to the right buyer

Most will not give you this information. Some may tell you that if your diamond is a nice quality you should send it to G.I.A. for a certificate. However, most buyers would prefer to buy your diamond without the G.I.A. if they are slick because it may come out a better quality after they send it to G.I.A. then expected therefore worth more money. So, you may want to consider sending your diamond to G.I.A. You can do this yourself or bring it to your local jeweler and they can do it for you. Bare in mind a certificate costs hundreds of dollars, the bigger the stone the more it will cost. Another tip, if your diamond is old, you may want to look into having recut and then certified because as a modern cut diamond it could be worth 2 or 3 times more money. This is only on a rare occasion though. More tips and tricks to come on how to sell your diamond, jewelry and watches in future articles.

LA Antique Jewelry and Watch Show Review

March 2013 kicked off the first LA Antique Jewelry and Watch Show organized by GLM. GLM is also responsible for a few other antique jewelry shows and many other show types. Including but not limited to

Antique show

LA Antique Jewelry and Watch Show

The Las Vegas Antique Jewelry and Watch Show, The Original  Miami Beach Antique Show, New York Antique Jewelry and Watch Show and the Miami Beach Antique Jewelry and Watch Show just to name a few. Mostly all of these shows are productive for the dealers that exhibit and the guests that visit. These shows are geared mostly for inter dealer business. However if you are looking to purchase yourself a one-of-a-kind piece and are luckily enough to know about these shows they can be a real treat. Most trade shows are terrible in there first few years or at least there first year. The LA Antique Jewelry and Watch Show was an exception to this rule. GLM’s marketing team did a much better than average job advertising the show. The turn out was much better than expected and will continue to grow with time. The public in this part of the country are looking for a very fine product at a very sharp price but there was plenty of buying and selling to do at this show. Next year should be much better and each year there after as well. At vintage jewelry events such as these it is not uncommon for there to be celebrity sightings as vintage jewelry and watches are very trendy now.

Why Are There Jewelry Buyers On Every Corner?

There are jewelry buyers on every corner. Check out this picture of 47th street in New York City….

Jewelry Buyers on every corner

There are hundreds if not thousands of jewelry buyers in major metropolitan areas. Why? Because the more people, the more jewelry, the more jewelry being sold. Boca Raton, Florida is a major jewelry buying and jewelry selling area. There is a very mixed crowd in South Florida. a vast majority of the retirement population from all over the USA ends up in Florida. There are a number of reasons for this, one is the tax incentives involved for retirees. Another is the obvious, the GREAT weather!  Towns like Boca Raton that were very undeveloped 30 years ago are packed full of retirees and young people alike. As the retirees get used to the good casual life in Boca Raton they come to realize that they don’t wear there jewelry anymore because there life style has changed. Its hard to split jewelry amongst children and easier to split money, so they sell jewelry in Boca Raton. We will follow up to this article with more info shortly.

Christie’s Announces Details of Elizabeth Taylor’s Jewelry Auction

Hello lovely Raymond Lee fans and readers. Today’s buzz is all about the newly released details of Christie’s auction of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry collection. Not too long ago, we paid homage to some of Liz’s most famous baubles and showcased what would be in our fantasy Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Auction.

Now that Christie’s has announced what jewels will actually be up on the block, we thought we’d share the dazzling results of our predictions. Read on for the inside scoop, courtesy of National Jeweler.

The Taj Mahal diamond is up for grabs, and is expected to fetch between $300,000  and $500,000 on its December 13th Christie’s debut.

This Van Cleef & Arpels 8 carat ruby and diamond stunner was Richard Burton’s Christmas gift to Liz in 1968. The ring is estimated to realize $1 million – $1.5 million at the first of two days of Christie’s auctions, Dec. 13.

These rings are Burtona nd Taylor’s wedding bands (from at least one of their fabled marriages). They are estimated to go for between $6,000 and $8,000 at their December 14th auction.

Finally, the star of the show is the Krupp/Elizabeth Taylor diamond. This 33-carat, D color, VS1 clarity, potentially internally flawless stone, was a gift to the actress from Burton “and is the perceived top lot of the auction, estimated to realize $2.5 million – $3.5 million at auction Dec. 13,” according to National Jeweler.

François Curiel, international jewelry director and president of Christie’s Asia, says of the lot:

“Elizabeth Taylor’s passion for jewelry was well-known, but it is her depth of knowledge about fine jewelry that truly impresses. She collected the best pieces from the best periods, and as a result her collection boasts exquisite examples from the most celebrated jewelry designers.”

Partial proceeds of the auction will benefit the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation, founded in 1991 to provide funding to AIDS service organizations throughout the world to assist those living with HIV and AIDS.\
