What is the IT color?

What is the IT color?

ALL OF THEM! Every where I look, COLOR, COLOR, and more COLOR! I’m finding color where once color wasn’t! First designer handbags, then watches, what’s next? Socks, tennis shoes, and sunglasses! Maybe in this cold, grey environment with all financial and global turmoil, we need to see sunshine and rainbows when we can’t find our spirit any where else? Well then, good for us!

Rolex, Cartier and even some amazing great colors on David Yurman cocktail rings!  These are fashion forward styles, but found a retailer on EBay that helps all of us everyday people. Check out this site:

Rolex has COLOR!

Color everywhere!  I see color in shoes never seen before! Who knew florescent yellow could be such a great spring color to wear with something as casual as jeans! Almost anything goes!

Even in the luggage business! Something as laptop sleeves and carriers, they are not just black or brown anymore! When we want to make a statement, we don’t want to stop with our clothes or shoes, we take it all the way!!!

In the kitchen, we see color in knives, in our mixing bowls and in our Kitchen Aids.  I hope we never see this trend end, because I feel like my eyes just can’t get enough of COLOR!

Pink: But not just any pink! Honeysuckle pink (a bright, almost reddish hue) was voted the color of the year by Pantone

2012 Fashion Trends: Oriental Prints, Fur Trims and Short Hems Coming Soon!

Fashion Trends of 2012:

Expect to see prints of the Orient, Lace and Fur Trimming similar to the style of the 1920’s, and Mod Infused Early ’60s Hemlines

Thanks to great resources like Fashionising.com, getting a heads up on the next years fashion trends is within reach. While it’s still a bit early to predict what significantly different changes will take off with a fluster and what trends will fall as complete blunders in 2012, enough information is available to (at the very least). help us prepare the best way possible.

I can only hope that the biker-chic style that was so eminent in the stylings of 2011 remains steadfast as the year turns, as I still have to purchase both my motorcycle boots and jacket.  Of these two things… I have been virtual window shopping for the entirety of 2011.

Chanel Motorcycle Boots - Introduced During 2010 Fashion Week in NY

Philipp Plein Jacket - A MUST HAVE !!!

Now, that said.. Some new trends, both in prints, fits and hems are rumored to be big hits in the upcoming year of 2012. Of these, expect to see an increase in the street style wearing of Komono‘s, oriental prints will be more common, though expected to be a bit more subtle and floral in use. Exotic silks and authentic vintage Kimono’s would be great pre-planning purchases to be a well-prepared fashionista for 2012!

The vintage fashions of this year certainly will not die off and disappear, but they will morph just a bit. From the sophisticated ’70s style we’ve seen so much of this year, with the soft flowing curls and slinky fabrics, expect a shift into the style of the early 1960’s. We’re talking true Mod Girl stuff here, Peter pan collars, short hems, mod hair styles and the Twiggy fashioned eyeliner may be sneaking it’s way back into the fashion forefront.

This year has already opened itself up to many 1930’s inspired fashions, a trend heightened with the release of the Motion Picture, ‘Water for Elephants.’ For both Men and Women, there has been a throw-back to old-fashioned baseball caps, and early styled lace accented dressings for ladies. With the ‘Great Gatsby’ Film expected to be released in 2012, the same will be seen in relation to 1920’s Flapper Fashion.

Avoid costume like ensembles, as these will be easy to spot and difficult to avoid with an expected over-indulged availability of short black wigs and overdone Flapper dresses. Keep this classic trend modern by introducing the ’20s presence in your style in a minimalistic way. Wide-leg trousers and subtle fur trims are great ways to achieve this style without going overboard.

Wide-Leg Trousers

The Chanel 'Le Boy' (A MUST HAVE for 2012!)

The Chanel ‘Le Boy’ is the ultimate glamour bag, with the classic golden braided strap, and intricate lettered perfection of ‘CHANEL’ stitched along the bag’s wide end, these little puppies will be booming in popularity… I want the red one, bad. Already. 🙂

Fashionising.com: Chanel 'Le Boy'

So, there you have it. A few fashion predictors to help you ease your way into a fashionable 2012 from start to finish. Now, we’ll get to what’s pressing currently, which is the preparation for bathing suit season, of course! Get ready for high waists, retro cuts and prints, the return of the one-piece (with a twist), and the early signs of the 1990’s fashion comebacks…

Masculine Monday: Five Fashion Trends for Guys We Strongly Advise Against

Wear At Your Own Risk

Five Fashion Trends for Guys We Strongly Advise Against

Men's Leggings: SOLD OUT

Fashion is different for everybody, and nobody understands that better than a group of Jewelry Enthusiasts who cater to a variety of different tastes and preferences on a daily basis. When the Masculine Monday entries began, we wanted to be sure and ease the minds of men who were overwhelmed with the new demands of accessorizing, and new requirements of brightening your wardrobe that were somewhat forced on the male species throughout the past year.

In an effort to help explain that utilizing one statement piece of otherwise avoided fashion, such as celebrity-inspired shades or a pair of colored trousers, Masculine Monday posts began as an aid to open the minds of men used to monochromatic wardrobes with fear of the unknown… a bit of a boost. We’ve touched on a few awesome pieces of Spring and Summer 2011 fashion to consider, such as the unlined blazer, suede lace-up shoes and renewed henley tee’s for the boys to rock with confidence this Summer. Cuff-links, vintage style wristwatches and classic style (like that of Prince William) are still encouraged as fashionable additions and approaches to men’s appearance.

Skimming through the currently pushed trends through fashion media, I discovered something a bit frightening. We’ve not yet mentioned what to avoid. They say ‘you can’t always believe what you hear.’ Well, the same is true for what you read, of course. Particularly when what you’re reading is the simple comprehensive opinions of fashion professionals. Sometimes there’s a look that can take off, something that was worn down a runway in Milan that enough people embraced that it made fashion headlines. This can often lead to street fashion catastrophe.

Now, believe me, I adore Alexander McQueen. However, I would be prepared for a few cross eyed looks if I hopped in my car to work while sporting a big feathered lavender number with lace embellishments. For these designs, there’s a time and a place. That place is the runway, that time is when you’re a professional model.. or an A-list Actress. Since I have no plans to become either, chances are I probably won’t be frolicking around in some of my favorite McQueen gowns.

In the same sense, sometimes things should just never be worn. By anybody. No offense is intended for the designers of these pieces. Obviously many people enjoy them, and to each their own. This is all opinion, after all… So never take our advice, nor anybody else’s too seriously. If something feels right to you, wear it. Rock it. If you feel like you’re in costume before leaving the house, chances are you will feel that way throughout the evening.

That said, thank you for allowing us to share with you five specific men’s fashions that we simply cannot get on board with this Summer. Let us know what you think…

#1. Men’s Leggings

There’s been a surge in media support for jersey material fitted leggings. Not just for women, but for men as well. While I can get on board with a pair of 3/4 length leggings to work out or walk my dog in, for the life of me (and according to trusted opinion sources from both men and women) there seems to exist no possible event or situation where these fitted jersey leggings should be worn on men.

#1. Men's Leggings

Over the past few years, menswear has gotten consistently slimmer: skinny ties, then suits, then jeans. Now designers like Prada and Jean Paul Gaultier are applying the final squeeze, as men’s leggings (meggings, perhaps?) show up in their fall lines. Some feature stirrups, some are paired with gladiator-style tunics. All are shamelessly tight.Fashion Masochist: Men’s Leggings ‘For guys, “slim fit” has taken on a whole new meaning’

By Jason Feifer

#2. Overdone Retro Footwear

We love the surge of Converse vintage themed comeback kicks, like the old-fashioned high tops with an Americana twist. The DC collection of basketball homage is also worth a 2nd and 3rd viewing, as the sneakers look great in person. The new collections of Converse, DC’s and Doc Martens all share one common element, though. They aren’t forcing anything grandiose into their designs. They’re focusing on details that ultimately matter most when the finished product is worn, and this is probably why so many people are overjoyed by being able to wear their favorite footwear with a renewed appearance. The same cannot be said for the few pieces of extremely futuristic, Back to the Future based, bulky footwear that ironically titles itself as ‘retro.’

It’s a walking contradiction… Literally.

#2. Overdone 'Retro' Footwear

#3. The Chambray Scarf

This is certainly a battle that won’t be easy to win. These scarves first started popping up a good while ago, and they just keep multiplying, now popping out of pockets, worn under sweaters, inspiring the fabrics for tee’s and shorts, etc. Maybe this is just a personal thing, but I have to disagree with the statement of UrbanGent.com that the ‘chambray is an essential.’

No. It’s not an essential. Scarves are feminine. They just are, and no matter how you twist it or present it, they will always appear feminine…

…At least according to the majority of women that have been asked the opinion of.  *Just an FYI*

#3. The Chambray Scarf

#4. The Deep V-Neck

Never a supporter of the original V-Neck, I would proudly protest against the wearing of these designs by men in any Country, at any time. The result of the exaggerated low neckline makes it look like not only are you trying to reveal cleavage, but exposing your chest hair in the process. The shirt, itself, looks confused, even before it’s placed on a male body. Let’s be clear. No man’s body is made for this cut of a shirt. It’s just a bad idea…

#4: The Deep V-Neck

#5. The Man Purse

Actually, there are a few bags that are entirely men’s messenger bags. They have no feminine attributes, and look great with the right outfit to carry your notebook, ipod or other necessities in without feeling like you’re wearing a purse. For instance, this design is ready to fit a laptop, pens, a cellphone and plenty others without a hint of girly. The colors are workable with nearly any ensemble, and it’s… well, manly.

A Few Details:

These are few and far between. With so many man purses fluttering about, it’s easy to be reeled in by a bag that looks like a patent leather accessory. The only thing that could add to the misfortune of an emasculating man purse is dual disaster of something like a man purse/ bright trouser combo. Too much. Too bright. It’s just not right.

#5. The Man Purse

If anyone would like to offer up some feedback, some refute even, it is more than encouraged! I like to be proven wrong, and I’m truly interested as to how other girls/guys feel about these fashion fads. Thanks!

-Alexandra

To Stand the Test of Time

I don’t know about you, but as a freelance writer I struggle to work from home. There are so many distractions that eventually end up pushing me to leave the house. This is when I hit a problem; as a writer I need all my things with me, books, magazines, laptop, it all has to come! Now I’m a vintage girl, always have been and always will be! I Love anything that has a story and history behind it, pushing it forward. So when contemplating this problem I decided to use this post to highlight the perfect bag, that is versatile, chic and the longest lasting style of bag in history.

All Herald the Satchel!

The Story
When I was six I got my first satchel, to use for school! It was brown leather and I covered it with stickers and embellishments, creating a rather artistic mess! Although it may have been a mistake to ruin the leather with stickers, it was my prized possession, and lasted me through to high school! My passion for a sturdy satchel has never left me, so when I decided to dedicate this post to the humble satchel I wanted to know more about its history. Here is the short version, but I think it may surprise you!
The satchel was first reported as being a functional accessory as far back as the Romans!

Oh yes that is correct, and they didn’t even look all that far removed from today’s designs! They were used for carrying food and survival kits by the Legionnaires, now that’s what I call a solid grounding in history! It wasn’t until the 17th Century that the Satchel began to be a fashion statement for men and women, this was the birth of the man bag! They were used by gentry and towns people alike, and were at one point the most common design of accessory.

Classic Satchel

In the 1940’s the satchel was known as the ‘evacuee bag’ as it’s where all your papers were kept, and this drove the bag towards its most well-known era, as the school bag – very geek chic!  This has not ended and today the shape and styles hold predominantly true to the original, with two fastening straps and a multitude on inner pockets, perfect for all! This season has seen the arrival of new, brighter and bolder satchels from all corners of the fashion world, from Mulberry to Primark, the colour block satchel is back!

Back!

Mulberry Satchel
The Colour Block

guest 2

So, whilst deliberating how I wear my satchels, I realised that I have two staple versions that give me a very differing look and feeling when I wear them! The first is my colour blocked satchel. It is the one that I wear when I am happy, confident and loud – I’m sure we all have something in our wardrobes that represents those days!
So I proceeded to pull everything out of my wardrobe and devise my perfect look, this is the outcome!
I have started with the amazing foundation of this beautiful, lilac satchel from Cambridge Satchel! This to me is a workable combination of S/S 2011 and the timeless, vintage shape – perfection! This bag is big enough for me to store all my stuff, and trust me there is a lot of stuff! I have a habit of never emptying my bags so they usually just fill up with rubbish, this bag will give me enough room to store my belongings and keep everything neat and tidy – finally there’s a method to my madness! Now, as a curvy girl I find long shoulder straps troublesome if they hit my hips, as it only widens them, this bag has adjustable straps, so that I can bring it up to my waist.
For an overall look I have chosen to style this bag towards a Geek Chic look. I have started with this belted, Ballerina skirt from my ever faithful Warehouse! The colour of this skirt works wonderfully with the bag and it’s quirky enough to ooze style. To complement the skirt I have added a plain white, sheer blouse from The Outnet, no geek look is complete without a pussy bow blouse!
This look is all about the accessories so I chose to start with these ankle socks and brogues both from TopShop. These are great for taller girls, but girls like me who were not blessed with long legs, swap these for wedges! Finally add in Geek glasses from Glassesshop.com and a classic Nixon watch, we all remember these in the 80’s! My nails are the completion of this running theme, I have chosen this slightly clashing shade from OPI.

The Hippy

guest blog

My other satchel staple is a vintage embroidered number that has been with me for over 10 years! It never goes out of fashion and is still practical – the perfect blend! When I use this bag I feel ethereal and earthy, it puts me back on the ground and celebrates my love of Mother Nature. So here is a similar bag, that I have found, that I feel will give you the same feeling!
This amazing and different example of the Satchel from TopShop, is not only a great example of the current 70’s trend but also a great staple that will last for years to come. Firstly I love the shape of this bag, it has a slightly Swedish feel to it that I simply adore. The floral printed leather is also chic and simple, it is noticeable but also adds textures – this can only add value to this investment!
As this is a smaller version, I can wear this at a longer length, it won’t hit my hips as badly as the larger version, and this would work great as a cross over.
I have styled this bag with a typical outfit that I would wear with mine, so I wanted to start with this seasons favourite Palazzo pant also from TopShop. The colour of these trousers are perfect for me, they ooze femininity and playfulness. These are also great for all sizes – yey! I have teamed these with this amazing denim number from
Miss Selfridge. To complete the look I have styled with these wedges from Sam Edelman, Miss Dior perfume, sweet and light like the outfit and necklace also from Miss Selfridge.

Go and invest in a Satchel this season, not only are you  investing in history but you are also grabbing a staple that will last through your history!

To my dear Alex,

Thank you for the opportunity to blog with you – it has been so much fun!
Your support means the world to me!

Love from your friend across the pond,

Clever Little Caz x

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Maxim’s #1 Girl Arrives in Style to Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty Gala

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has recently been awarded the coveted title of ‘Hottest Woman in the World’ on Maxim Magazine‘s Hot 100 List, in addition to recently having received the CinemaCon’s Female Star of Tomorrow vote.  You may recognize this 24 year old beauty from the runway, commercials, or pages of the Victoria’s Secret enterprise.

The model is quickly moving up in the world of Hollywood, replacing Megan Fox in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, expected to be released later this Summer. While many expected Megan Fox to return in the third Transformers Film, it seems the friction between Fox and Transformers Director Michael Bay was such that he felt a new face was necessary for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

For more on Megan Fox, the bane of Michael Bay’s Existence, and why….  Read This.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attended the ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ Costume Gala on Monday, along-side boyfriend Jason Statham. Rosie was stunning in her custom rose silk gown, a nude python clutch, and shoes all by Burberry.  She finished off her look with Fred Leighton jewels. Absolutely stunning!

We couldn’t help but notice how very ’70s sophisticate the gown and accessories were, in style, fabric and fit. This is a fashion trend that few have been able to pull off so (seemingly) effortlessly. Many times, too many competing pieces of yellow gold jewelry, or an overdose of sequins and playful colors, can decidedly destroy the classy appeal of what Rosie Huntington-Whiteley succeeded in on Monday in New York City.

The breathtaking Actress took her first public photo’s with British Actor boyfriend, Jason Statham of  The Expendables.

Be sure to check out the ‘Hottest Woman in the World’ this Summer in ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ alongside Shia LaBeouf.

$3.8 Million Diamond Hand Bag- Florida Gold Store

Florida Gold Store

Florida Gold Store

As a male I tend to be dismayed at the amazing prices women are willing to spend on purses, of course I don’t blink an eye at thinking about spending thousands on a luxury timepiece.  The majority of high end typically sell for two to four thousand dollars. Today I just found out about a purse with a price tag that has actually broken world records.

Mouawad, one of largest jewelry designers has created a hang bag that literally dripping with diamonds. “The Mouawas 1001 Nights Diamond Purse,” was created and released last year; its estimated value is a whopping $3.8 million dollars. Crafted into the shape of an heart pocketbook, the purse is 18ct gold and features 4,517 diamonds (105 yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 white). With a total of 381.92 carats this “small” purse is more like a bowling ball on a chain.

The Mouawad was created by ten artisans who tolled tirelessly for over 8,800 hours on the purse. Each of the thousands of diamonds had to be painstakingly attached to the bag by hand and only the finest quality gems were used. Upon its completion the Guinness Wold Records officially designated it the most valuable handbag in the world.

Raymond Lee Jewelers may not be selling million dollar handbags but we are one of the largest Florida Gold Store. Bring in your gold to buy or sell today!

How to spot a fake Louis Vuitton bag

Louis Vuitton Handbag

Louis Vuitton has been manufacturing luxury handbags, accessories, clothing, and luggage for over 150 years.  As these luxury items have become increasingly popular, the market has also become flooded with replicas.  There are many key details to pay attention to when purchasing Louis Vuitton handbag to ensure authenticity.  The first clue, which may seem obvious,  is to make certain that Louis Vuitton actually manufactured the style you are looking at.  Certain models of Louis Vuitton handbag were only made in specific colors or sizes. Look out for this! A second thing to pay attention to is the scent.  A replica Louis Vuitton handbag has a much stronger leather smell than an  authentic Louis Vuitton handbag. The only way to understand the way to recognize  an authentic Louis Vuitton handbag by the scent is to purchase a real Louis Vuitton handbag and smell it.  Another thing to look for is the way the monogram is placed on a Louis Vuitton handbag.  The monogram should be symmetrical. The stitching on all Louis Vuitton handbag should be perfectly even. Louis Vuitton handbag command such a high price for a reason.  Most Louis Vuitton handbag are consistent with regards to their stitching. A popular example of this is shown in the Louis Vuitton Speedy bag where the handles meet the bag, there are five stitches going across the top.  Many people also assume that the presence of a date code guarantees authenticity. This is not always the case, however.  If the specific Louis Vuitton handbag that you are looking at should have a date code but does not, this could be a sign that it is counterfeit.  Certain models of Louis Vuitton bags did not have date codes if they were manufactured during certain years. Also pay attention to the location of the date code, an example would be that most Louis Vuitton speedy bags would have the same date code location, however the location of date codes sometimes differs between years.  Louis Vuitton began using date codes in the early 1980s, and they are usually very hard to spot, as they are sometimes hidden in the corners of pockets or in seams.  The leather used in authentic Louis Vuitton bags is not treated, and darkens to a honey color with use.  This is just a small sampling of key things to look for when trying to spot a fake Louis Vuitton handbag.
