What’s that on your head?

It's a Stormy Kromer, of course.

This righteous cap is a celebratory find for the vintage look loving man! Another giveaway by the gents over there at urbangent.com is the classic early 19th century canvas visor cap, the ‘Stormy Kromer’. Named after the semi-pro baseball player and railroad engineer, George “Stormy” Kromer, this cool cap is part of the American Made Giveaway. Two classic companies have come together to offer this lifetime warranty backed cap. Kudos to Duluth Pack and Stormy Kromer.

Duluth Pack. Founded in 1882 by Camille Poirer in Duluth, Minnesota. In the 1870s Camille started a small shoe store, then in 1882 filed for a patent on a new type of “packsack.” It was a canvas sack, that closed with a buckled flap, had shoulder straps and other new features. It was known as the Poirer Pack, and is now called the original Duluth Pack.

Stormy Kromer. George “Stormy” Kromer was a real guy – a semi-pro baseball player and railroad engineer. Not the kind of guy you’d expect to start a clothing company, in other words, but one who happened to create a cap that became known for long-comfort and the ability to stay snug, even in the fiercest winds.

One day George “Stormy” Kromer asked his wife Ida, who was a naturally talented seamstress to fashion him a modified version of his baseball cap that would help to keep him warm when working on the railroads in cold weather. It was in 1903 that Ida created the first all cloth, six panel fitting hat that would keep George warm on the chilliest of nights. The comfortable fit and stay-put element of the modified baseball cap was such a hit with other railroad workers that Ida had to hire a few employees to keep up manufacturing the head warming sensations. ‘Stormy Kromer‘ was born!

Masculine Monday: ‘Grungy Gentleman’, ‘Tucked’ and ‘Bonobos’ Giving Men’s Fashion Reasons to Celebrate

On This Fine Day, We Give Thanks To Combat Boots, Trousers with a Cool Color Boost,

and Successful Subtle Sarcasm of Formal Wear achieved by the designs of Bonobos!

'Tucked' Q&A Series with 'Bonobos' Fashion Line

Grungy Gentleman Combat Boots of Perfection!

Tucked.. with a cool color boost to love!

To disassemble the who’s who between these male-geared virtual publications was a bit treacherous at first, I must admit.  It seems that ‘Tucked, LLC‘ has much admiration for ‘Bonobos’, both of which are warmly welcomed by the Grungy Gentleman Blog, a creation of the virtually mysterious Jace Lipstein.

Upon entrance of the Grungy Gentleman Blog, there is an open door to a Singer22.com, (aka ‘S22 Man‘), which just so happens to feature some awesome fashions for color lovin’ gals, like myself!  To see these, and I recommend highly you do so, or at least forward the following URL to your girlfriend/wife/insert affiliation here: http://www.singer22.com/blog/

To provide some clarity to the domain clutter, it ultimately isn’t clutter at all. It is a complex example of proper Blog Etiquette. Mutual  admiration in publications to peers and inspirations. It has now become clear that Jon Singer, Founder of Singer 22, which is taking off in the Men’s Fashion Industry, had been interviewed by Grungy Gentleman. The interview, of which, was featured on the Tucked Blog.

(For complete interview, please  visit URL: http://www.grungygentleman.com/2011/05/q-with-jon-singer-founder-of-singer22.html)

SINGER22 is emerging as a force in the industry. With additional retail locations on the horizon, the launch of menswear, and celebrity appearances, SINGER22 has created quite the buzz. Their growth and success starts and ends with the guy in charge, Jon Singer.

Grungy Gentleman sits down with Mr. SINGER 22, Jon Singer…

Now that we have that a bit cleared up… The point was ultimately to say a sincere Thank You to these Fashion-Gents.

The combat boots featured in Grungy Gentleman are totally awesome, not overpriced and not outlandish in appearance either. They walk the perfect line of ‘in-style’ and ‘not trying at all’. This is a hard look to pull of successfully, and these boots will answer the prayers of many, including myself if they’re available in a Men’s size 4, which I’ve already inquired upon 🙂

Secondly, to Tucked LLC, you rock dude! This blog has numerous tips and awesome images to help convey completely what a man that looks well dressed without looking primped should appear like. In real life. With stylish approaches that inch toward, but never jump off the bridge, like ’30s inspired cuffed up pant legs, wool vests, green trousers and suspenders, that all work in the creation of Tucked, I am in an awe-inspired thanks. He describes his ensembles much better than I should attempt, and if you’re interested in looking this smooth, take a gander into the mind of Tucked…

And lastly, the sneaky sarcasm of the dress pants. I can’t help but find that humor in formal menswear deserves some sort of applause or a treat of some kind. Bonobos CEO Andy Dunn began his successful men’s fashion venture with hopes to catering to the comfortable fit of stylish menswear. Bravo, Mr. Dunn. And then some. A few key pieces from this line that are infectiously lovable include items such as the Graham Slackers and the Banshees, in addition to more obvious favorite picks like the Mint Juleps!

Graham Slackers

Mint Juleps by Bonobos

Bonobos Bashees

As explained by ‘Ninja Dan’:

To be refined takes a little more effort, but you don’t want to overdo it and become boring and stuffy. The Banshees create a look that is at once both simple and exuberant. On the outside, they are fine-cut black wool pants: spartan and appropriate. On the inside, they are vibrant, playful, and rebellious. So while you may be in middle management and have daily meetings about corporate synergy, you can always rock the Banshees and know you’re the cock of the walk. – Ninja Dan

What a marvelous Monday for Masculine Fashion Finds! These sure fire ensembles, tips and approaches to looking great without it seeming like you spent a great deal of time in preparation… is the answer to any man’s ‘looking great.’ I hope these resources help, here’s wishing all our cherished gentlemen a happy week and a marvelously Masculine Monday.

Thanks For Stopping By,

Kim Kardashian: Bride to Be Flaunts $2 Million Engagement Ring Designed by Lorraine Schwartz, Announces Plans To Wed Kris Humphries in Alexander McQueen

Kim Kardashian: Jewelry, Love and Fashion

Kim Kardashian in Monaco with Fiance, Kris Humphries, Flashing Her New $2 Million Engagement Ring designed by Lorraine Shwartz. Kardashian’s Engagement Ring sparkles with a 16.5-carat emerald cut center stone, flanked by a pair of 2-carat trapezoids, with a total weight of 20.5 carats.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries in Monaco

While the media isn’t giving this couple too much credibility, it seems that there are some tell tale signs that we are seeing a true love story as opposed to the claims that the Sports Star was paid to marry Kim Kardashian, or that the new Bride purchased the ring herself. (Which she could have, and more power to her just for that ability!) Kardashian never flaunted Kris Humphries around like arm candy, not was she exceedingly public with their romance or obsessed with his appearance publicly.

That shows a great deal of respect for the relationship and for Kris Humphries, as this gal is no stranger to spouting off with comments about possible suitors that may have been considered… demanding or expectant. With Kris Humphries, I see a sweeter, more genuine person in Kim Kardashian. If this relationship has brought that happiness of a content existence into the young beauties life, the tabloids may be eating some crow for proclaiming this marriage didn’t ‘stand a chance.’

Kim Kardashian Engagement Ring

Kim Kardashian‘s stunning 20.5-carat engagement ring is obviously big. It’s so big, in fact, that husband-to-be Kris Humphries was able to include several inscriptions on the inside of the sparkler. “It’s engraved, with two things from the Bible,” Humphries tells PEOPLE. “There’s one verse [Proverbs 31: 10-31] about the perfect godly woman,” he explains. “The other, [1 John 3:18] is about love. It took me … a few days to pick them out and research the perfect ones.” In the middle of the two passages is a third inscription, “K [hearts] K,”standing, of course, for Kris and Kim.

Masculine Monday: Princes William and Harry are Among GQ’s Best Dressed in Britain

Masculine Monday Toots it’s Own Horn for Recognizing the Impressive Display of Prince William Style Last Month! 🙂

This news was still unbeknownst to me when we published the Masculine Monday dedicated to Prince Williams Classic Style of Proper Patriotism. Now serving as further proof that their is an undeniable and strong allure to a well-groomed and proper mannered gentlemen who can carry his name and Nation with pride.

Prince William. Prince Harry.

Obviously, nothing is without flaw, and we might have done without Prince Harry‘s daring anti-sematic fashion mistakes. As they say though, no press is bad press, and the buzz around Prince Harry’s more embarrassing ensembles opened the gateway to Style Stardom for Prince Harry.

As a Nation, we feel that we’ve been part of an evolution, a perpetual change in the appearance of the younger Royal Brother. Whether it is in fact the truth or not doesn’t matter much, as he’s worked his way successfully into the soft spots of our American hearts.

Princess Diana with Princes William and Harry

Prince William snagged the number 27 spot, because, as GQ puts it, he is ‘”following in his father’s footsteps as a great ambassador for British style.” He even gets a ringing endorsement from Pharrell Williams: “‘I like it when Prince William goes dandy. He’s got all the proper wardrobe when they do the hunting thing. They kill that!”

Prince Harry landed a top spot on the list at #5.  This top spot was earned through the fashion measures of eliminating effort, truly. GQ fashion experts explain, “he looks good because he really doesn’t care.”

Prince Harry on cover of GQ Magazine

The special edition front page shows the 26-year-old wearing kit for the Walking With The Wounded charity, of which he is patron. He will arrive at the group’s base camp in Longyearbyen, northern Norway, on Tuesday to begin his training, before he heads out into the frozen wasteland on Friday.

Harry will be with his teammates for the first five days of the gruelling walk, which is expected to take around four weeks and will cover up to 200 miles (322km). They will haul sledges weighing more than 220lb (100kg) in temperatures as low as minus 60C (minus 76F).

The Prince told GQ: ”This extraordinary expedition will raise awareness of the debt that this country owes to those it sends off to fight – only for them to return wounded and scarred, physically and emotionally.”

There definitely is something to be said for the power of an attractive man that looks like he’s just rolled out of bed. However, following the Royal Wedding and all of the well-deserved enamored praise for new Bride, Kate Middleton, society may find itself placing more value in the appearance of an obviously groomed, self-aware Prince. I would propose that on the next published list, Prince William’s Classic Style may rank higher among the GQ Experts, with fresh eyes.
Prince William’s Classic Patriotism Style

Congratulations is in order for this impressive Royal Brotherhood, though they come a bit late.

With different approaches to fashion that vary from ultimately traditional to the extremes of casual, both have made their mark on the world of fashion, and what the future has in store for us should be nothing less than an exciting style evolution for both men.

Prince William. Prince Harry.

Gentlemen, if you have been working your way up the fashion ladder in hopes to place among the best dressed in Britain list… Here’s a great wardrobe staple to give you a head start on Royal Style!

Vivienne Westwood Polo Shirt

Now you can consider wearing polos with the famous Vivienne Westwood quirkiness. As always, we’ve got plently of details giving the piece something attractive. Featuring a striped collar and some offbeat white contrasting buttons, this polo is a godsend for the casualwear. That’s all we plan to wear during our summer holidays!

Masculine Monday: Prince William’s Signature Style of Classic Patriotism

Oh, The Royal Wedding! Such an elegant and beautiful Alexander McQueen gown worn by Kate Middleton, decorated with the most delightful diamond drop earrings and the famous ‘something borrowed’ tiara.

With so much attention being given to the blushing Duchess, I thought today would be a perfect opportunity to recognize the classic style of Prince William. He seems to have created a new genre of men’s fashion, and I personally believe it to be absolutely brilliant!

Prince William prefers clean lines and classic fits, exuding a proper patriotic gentleman appeal that is quite easy to be enamored with.

The leading fashion trends today, from Edwardian Era Engagement Rings for the gals, to Vintage Leather Strapped Watches for the gents, seem to be showing appreciation and paying homage to the men and women of America’s early 20th century more than ever before.

With Classic evolving into Couture … Prince William’s simple, cleanly patriotic look, seen the day of The Royal Wedding, is a clear example of his fashion-conscious style.

In 2000, Prince William was highlighted by People Magazine for his personalized style. At the time, Prince William was making fashion statements with British flag stitched waistcoats, embellished with the words, “Groovy Baby.”

Prince William of Whales was 18 at the time, and has since retreated into a conservative style that unbeknownst to us, was entirely ahead of the fashion curve for men! With a constantly classic and proper wardrobe, Prince William prefers navy blue, burgundy and other regal, richly conservative colors.

His dress shirts tend to be of either lighter blue’s, classic white or cream colored, with classic pointed medium spread collars. His suits are not slim-fitted, and the press has yet to see him sockless. This dedication to proper attire, and avoidance of the fashion trends that sit too far apart from classic are commendable. Prince William has the patriotic gentleman look pinned. Perfectly.

Gentlemen, Get Classic…

There are a few key Royal fashion tips that you should take from Prince William. For upper-dressed occasions, You can’t go wrong with sporting a classic tie clip, small patriotic accents, or navy and burgundy neck ties. On casual days,  polo shirts worn with khakis, and crew-neck sweaters on-top of button-up shirts and trousers will be a successfully royal choice every time.

Have a wonderful day, Ladies and Gentlemen!

I heard an interesting story today on the radio while driving to work.  A young woman told the radio how her boyfriend of 4 years finally popped the question.  At the time she said yes however now she realizes that she isnt ready to get married, doesn’t want to break up and definitely wants to keep the ring.  What happened next is pretty much what you could expect……an avalanche of callers telling her whether or not she was right or wrong.

1) As a matter of law the reciept of an engagement ring is in all sense of the word a provisional contract.  It is a promise to marry.  Should the engagement be called off, regardless of who does the calling off the ownership of the ring remains property of the guy who purchased it.  If a woman keeps the ring, aside from being completely in poor taste if he were to take her to court she would most definitely lose the case and in some cases be brought up on criminal charges. Not Pretty!

2) Guys……..if you propose to someone on a holiday or in this case a birthday and it doesnt work out prior to getting married it can be argued that the ring was a gift for that particular occasion and though it is clear that the ring is an engagement ring the overlapping occasion is all that is needed to make a painful memory a costly one……

And Guys, for the record, lets say you ignored this rule and decided to propose on a birthday, Christmas, Valentines day or any other holiday, you definitely will lose points for lack of originality.  Plus having the engagement ring do double duty as a holiday gift is just tacky.
