Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked- Jewelry Appraisal

Jewelry Appraisal

Jewelry Appraisal

In the past we have blogged about the beautifully industrial looking Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, which is one of Audemars’ most popular timepieces. Audemars hopes to attract a new type of clientele with their re-envisioning of the popular Royal Oak. The newest edition to the collection has a skeletonised dial and case back but retains the  sleek and contemporary lines of the original Royal Oak. These new watches have had their movements upgraded from the Calibre 3120 to the self-winding Calibre 3129. The Calibre 3129 movement consists of many intricate moving parts that when seen in motion through the transparent dial create a magnificent exhibition. Jewelry appraisal.

This exciting new watch features satin-brushing on the mainplate and bridges and intense colors that are achieved through hand-crafted beveling. Their are only a few color options though, colors range from gray to anthracite (a slightly darker shade of gray). This lack of colors was intentional, as the various shades of gray offer a beautiful contrast to the brass gear trains and the 22kt gold oscillating weight seen through the dial. The case is an impressive 39 mm in diameter and makes quite the presence.

Audemars is offering the Royal Oak Openworked in a steel case with a steel bracelet or a 18kt pink gold case on an alligator leather strap. Both versions are incredibly fascinating pieces and a great addition to any  watch collection.
