Future 70s Studded Rings by TomTom Jewelry

The various pieces of wearable art by TOMTOM JEWELRY has been a favorite among the press, celebrities, fashionistas and creative expression enthusiasts from the launch of the first collection in 2009. An established architect turned jewelry designer, Elena Coleman Howell utilized her design prowis to conquer graphic design and architecture integration. The result was TOMTOM JEWELRY, a successful modern twist to retro creations that is giving jewelry lines everywhere a run for their money.

While it is easy to spot the detailed precision in certain aspects of the pieces, the jewelry isn’t overly industrial or masculine. There is an element to every piece that brings a beautiful and delicate strength to geometric shapes and hammered metal textures. The unique qualities of the ‘Future ’70s’ Collection include shimmered accents to offset spike designs, the use of hand tie dyed suede to offset the bold bronze chains and hardware and thin golden chains to add a dash of delicate femininity to a totally rocking necklace that can be dressed up, down and manipulated with every chosen ensemble!

“Tribal Matters” ring. It’s available in seven different finishes, I suggest getting a variation of both gold and silver, and it’s just one of the stunning pieces Elena offers up on her website. $155.

Masculine Monday: J Crew Capsule Collection with Billy Reid

Good Monday Morning, Gents!

The Alabama-based Designer who is well known for his classic style with a fit-for-work-wear appearance, the anticipated collection from CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award winner Billy Reid for J Crew has arrived… in style. The Capsule Collection includes a variety of pieces, ranging from modestly priced to high-quality exquisite pieces that could be considered fashion investments, if you will.

Today, we’ll focus on a few key pieces from the Capsule Collection that will brighten up the look of any outfit this Spring Summer 2011 Fashion Season for Men. To start, a simple polo with a twist on the original design.

J.Crew Grand Isle Polo

The ideal vision behind this creation by Billy Reid was to maintain the integrity of all the formal elements of a proper Polo shirt, while bringing to the design all of the comfortable and breathable features of a casual fishing tee.

Billy Reid at J.Crew Blythewood Sport Jacket

In Japanese Cotton Chambray, this charcoal colored sport jacket is dressy enough to wear to a good friend’s wedding reception and still comfortably durable. The idea was a sports jacket that could dress up any tee-shirt and jeans to a night-worthy style, while maintaining the comforts of an easy breasy spring and summer-time jacket option.  This Summer Sports Jacket is sure to be a home-run for the fellas. Wrinkles? Not to worry. With this fabric and fit, wrinkles pretty much belong. The thin and breathable fabric lock up the success of the ideal summer sports jacket. Well done, Billy Reid!

Billy Reid at J.Crew Bridwell Henley

With darted seam details and utility pockets, the Capsule Collection henley cotton shirt brings some fundamental fashion updates to this classic and pliable look. A shirt that can be worn alone or with layers, this henley is a lightweight answer to all men’s summer attire. The patch pockets maintain the classic henley appearance, while the addition of a few key details make a refreshed design to a classic long-sleeved breathable tee.

Billy Reid at J.Crew Blythewood Trouser

The Capsule Collection Trouser’s by Billy Reid also feature the Japanese Cotton Chambray fabric as the super summer sports jacket pictured above. There is a huge comeback in the color grey in terms of men’s jeans, trousers, jackets and blazers, even charcoal colored watch faces are popping up as top men’s fashion picks. These dark to heathered hues of grey will likely be seen for a few Seasons to come as the forefront of certain Men’s Fashion.

“It works well with bucks, or rolled up with a pair of sandals.” Billy Reid designed these trousers with the Sports Jacket in mind.

With a special feature of suspender-ready buttons on the waist, Reid explains that he wanted these creatively fashioned trousers to have a definitive nod to old-school fashions.

Since I’ve also foreshadowed on the presence of grey jeans on their way to Men’s denim domination, have a look at these Diesel Black Gold Jeans.

GQ Reports ‘Clear Skies, Grey Jeans’

Gray jeans should be your go-to jean for the summer. In most cases, they’re washed, worn-in, and lighter-weight. Once you get used to them, you realize they go with almost everything too. For starters, try them with a super soft tee (or something a bit rumpled) and a pair of suede moccasins or designer sneakers.

So get in the grey, guys. The color will be a strong trend this Spring and Summer 2011 Season in jeans, trousers, blazers, watches and more. Be sure to take a look at the Billy Reid Capsule Collection for J Crew. The classic all-American styles with modern-day spins are great high-quality garments that can build the foundation of a winning Spring Summer wardrobe with a few key pieces to build the frame.
Once these workable classics are hanging up in your closet, spinning them into something creative and stylish will be easier than you thought possible. With the addition of a celebrity-inspired pair of shades, a charcoal-colored watch or vintage-themed accessory, you will have a winning ensemble pieced together in perfect masculine harmony!
