One last modern man’s vintage must have….

The Skinny Tie.

Fleur-De-Lis Skinny Tie Circa 1940s

"A great vintage man's tie circa late 1940's. The design has a great pattern with a bit of funk. The background is a dark red, the fleur-de-lis design is ivory, gray and black. The material has an interesting texture and pattern of diamonds in the weave as well as a slight sheen. The photos were taken both with a flash and natural light-the tie appears more red with the flash, the darker photos best show the overall color and the flash ones show the weave & texture. Condition is excellent, very clean and without wear, damage or stains. Measures 50" long and 3.25" at the widest. A wonderful vintage tie in amazing near mint condition."

Vintage Fashion is here to stay, gentlemen. And it's looking better now than even the first time around. Have some fun with these vintage accents in
2012!

From ‘Helsinki Vintage’: Marimekko’s Design Manager Noora Niinikoski stopped by AMERICANA’s shop for a chat about Converse ♥ Marimekko and the whole heritage trend with American & Finnish brands.  She amusingly recounted a similar adventure in Tallinn to find herself a pair of Estonian All-Stars, which also led her to the same back alley post office.

Totally Vintage: Limited Edition Chuck Taylor All Star’s

Chuck Taylor Vintage All Star Kicks

I know it’s a bit strange, but I was more proud of my Brothers when they both started wearing classic Chuck Taylor ‘Converse‘ low-tops than when they ranked in the Fifth Grade Science Fair. Partially because I did their Science Fair Projects for them, so praise wouldn’t have been justified, but ever more-so because I was so intensely proud that they were following in their Big Sisters All-Star footsteps.

My first pair of Chuck Taylor‘s were high-tops. Pink. They rocked. They also matched my hair color. It was fantastic. I have yet to find another pair of Converse that I find as perfectly suited for me than that very first pair. I wore them until the soles had grown thin and the pink had turned to more of a grey with muted pink hues, and loved every moment of it.There is something so purely classic and completely capturing of a sense of childhood in traditional Chuck Taylor sneakers.

If you recall, all of those cute boys (I can say that because I was just a girl when the movie came out) in ‘Sandlot‘ had their classic Chuck Taylor’s laced up when they went out to talk of the Great Bambino, scheme up various ways to obtain new baseballs at the local store and how to hit on the lifeguard at the community pool by successful methods of false drowning. Even Smalls, the new kid in town who knew nothing about the game of baseball sported these classic sneakers. If ever a piece of Americana was captured in a shoe… It was done with the original vintage Chuck Taylor All Star’s.

These kick are a true American staple. Frozen in time by decades of footprints and design.
