Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway: Week 10 Preview

Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway

Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway

Week 10 in the NFL marks the first week this season for Thursday Night Football Games.  For those participating in the Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway this means you have to at least have your first pick in by Thursday.  A lot of people did not realize it this week and missed out on an opportunity for a point.  As more and more people join it is imperative to accumulate as many points as possible.

If you were one of the few to realize there was football on last night you watched a great game.  A last second touchdown by Baltimore to go ahead by one was quickly forgotten when Roddy White and the Atlanta Falcons scored the winning touchdown with 20 seconds left.  The game was mostly dominated by Atlanta up until the 4th quarter when Baltimore finally found some passing lanes.  Overall it was a good game with a great ending.

While last night’s game was the best match up of the week there are still some games to watch Sunday and Monday.  In my opinion the other two games that will be just as exciting are both the Sunday night game and the Monday night game.  On Sunday night the Patriots travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.  And on Monday night the surprising Eagles are visiting the nation’s capital to play the Redskins.  Both games feature two teams who have been long time rivals.

Steelers vs Patriots:
This game is featuring two teams who have been the class of the AFC for the last ten years or so.  From 2000-2009 they have combined to win half of the Super Bowls played and participated in 6 out of the 10.  Whenever these two meet up you can expect a great game.  The similarities continue as they are both first in their divisions boasting a 6-2 record.  The Patriots have had four quality wins over the Dolphins, San Diego, Baltimore, and Minnesota but just got blown out by the dreadful Cleveland Browns.  The Steelers have been playing great defense and started the season 3-1 without their Super Bowl winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.  The reason I think the Patriots looked so bad last week against the Browns is because they were looking ahead to this weeks game.  They were 6-1 and could afford to lose at Cleveland in order to prepare for this heated rivalry game.  The Patriots will bounce back this week after a devastating loss and beat the Steelers.

Redskins vs Eagles:
Year after year the NFC East proves to be the hardest division in the NFL to win.  All four teams usually have high aspirations even before the season starts.  Going 9-7 in the NFC East is more like 10-6 or 11-5 in other divisions.  This year the Eagles are second in the division with an impressive 5-3 record.  Michael Vick has been carving up defenses and looks like he has provided a spark to their offense.  Meanwhile, last year’s last place team, the Redskins, have been a nice surprise.  They are a 4-4 team after coming off one of their worst seasons ever.  They have been playing everyone tough and have been in just about every game until the end.  The addition of head coach Mike Shanahan has given this team some discipline and it has translated to wins on the football field.  While the Redskins have been playing good football I think the Eagles’ Michael Vick will be too much to handle.  Between his running and improved aerial attack the Eagles should win this one in Washington.

Good luck everyone this week and remember to tell your friends about the Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway.
