Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway: Week 2 Preview

Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway

Revis vs Moss

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for my Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway preview into week 2 of the NFL season.  Every Thursday I will take the hardest games to pick and give advice.  While week 1 was dominated by home teams, week 2 looks like a much harder challenge.

The first game I am going to talk about is the Baltimore Ravens visiting the Cincinnati Bengals (the Ravens are favored by 2 on the road).  Coming off a division title and an impressive 10-6 record, the Bengals had high hopes for this year.  The acquisition of Terrel Owens and other young receivers in the draft like Jordan Shipley should present match up problems for opposing defenses.  However, in week 1 Cincinnati only managed to score 3 points in the first half against a young and inexperienced Patriots defense.  This was definitely a disappointing start for what should be an explosive offense.  On the contrary the Ravens looked great on Monday Night Football.  They beat the most hyped team in the history of football; the Jets; in New York.  While the Ravens failed to score more than 10 points their defense was on point.  They held Mark Sanchez and the Jets’ star powered offense to only 60 yards passing.   It makes sense to me that the Bengals will be up to the challenge, not start 0-2 and get the win.  Their defense will step up and put pressure on Joe Flacco giving him less time to throw.  Playing at home was the deciding factor for me.  If this game was in Baltimore I would have gone with the Ravens.

The other game I want to talk about, and what should be the game of the week, is the New York Jets hosting the New England Patriots (Patriots favored by 3).  This is a rivalry game that features two of the best at their respective positions: Randy Moss vs Darrelle Revis.  Last year Revis dominated the match up holding Moss to 9 catches and 58 yards in two games.  A lot of jarring has gone back and forth between the two and I look for Moss to come out on top this time.  Randy Moss may retire as one of the best receivers of all time and I don’t see him getting held down a third time in a row; he’s too good.  Brady looked like his 2007 form last week and he will continue that in week 2.  Not only will Moss have over 100 yards and a TD, while finally exposing Revis, the Patriots will come into New York and give the Jets an 0-2 start.

My Picks:

Bills at Packers – Packers
Dolphins at Vikings – Vikings
Chiefs at Browns – Chiefs
Bears at Cowboys – Cowboys
Cardinals at Falcons – Falcons
Buccaneers at Panthers – Panthers
Eagles at Lions – Eagles
Ravens at Bengals – Bengals
Steelers at Titans – Titans
Seahawks at Broncos – Broncos
Rams at Raiders – Raiders
Texans at Redskins – Texans
Patriots at Jets – Patriots
Jaguars at Chargers – Chargers

I wish good luck to all the contestants taking part in week 2.  Remember that the Sports Watch Weekly Giveaway is now open to the general public and it’s free!  You can sign up at and start playing today.
