The New Rolex Explorer

2010 Rolex Explorer

A lot of talk has been about the new 2010 Rolex Submariner, but few know there is a new Rolex Explorer I.  Introduced in the 2010 Baselworld exhibition the new Explorer brings quality time keeping together with simple design.

Specifications of the new model are similar to years past with one major difference, the size.  Rolex, the successful company that it is, realized that bigger watches were the new style.  The norm for gents watches has always been 36mm with anything bigger being recognized as quite large and anything smaller makes less of a statement.  But lately it seems as if 40mm is the new norm.  After all the Submariner, Yachtmaster, GMT-Master and Explorer II are all 40mm.  This year the Explorer is 39mm, three millimeters larger than its predecessor.  It has the same oyster case and look, just a bit bigger.

Other additions include the inner bezel engraving of the words Rolex and the serial number.  904L steel is the steel used throughout the watch.  The bezel remains fixed and smooth.  As of today the only available dial color is black with more to be anticipated later.  The hour hands are luminescent for reading in little or no light.  As with most Rolex models, the movement is automatic with a 3132 Calibre.  Water resistance for this particular model is 100m (330 feet).  Like the case the bracelet style is oyster along with an Oysterlock clasp with easy link.  The new model number will be 214270.

The new design of this old classic Rolex will only add to its popularity.  Bringing a bigger size will attract a whole new demographic of clients including younger people who are more up-to-date with style.  Innovations like this are what separates Rolex from being just another watch company.

RLJ in HongKong day 6!

Hey everyone!  Once again had an extremely busy day.  Non stop action at our booth (we must be doing something right!)  As the day progressed our watches and jewelry got alot of attention and quite a bit I am proud to say are finding a new home here in the orient.   Our selection of watches has been the main star of our show but that is not to say that our jewelry isnt anything to scoff at either.  Our selection of designer merchandise is dwindling as people are snapping up our great buys.  For now it is time for bed and rest up for another busy day.
